One of the greatest mistakes of our day is to think of movement by itself, as something apart from the higher functions…Mental development must be connected with movement and be dependent on it. It is vital that educational theory and practice should become informed by this idea.
Integrating movement and activity into the school day is a fundamental aspect of Montessori learning. As IMS has expanded in size, so too has our PE Programme and enrichment activities offered as part of our extra curricular programmes. Students, Primary students in particular, now have more choices than ever.
Upper Primary and Lower Primary students participate in organised team sports, including football, basketball, hockey, and gymnastics. IMS regularly competes with teams from other schools such as Singapore International School, Island Christian Academy, Yew Chung International School, Anfield School, and Multi-sport.
Additionally, as an extension of PE classes, IMS holds intra-school events that give all Primary students the opportunity to participate in sports such as basketball, football, hockey, intercrosse, and touch rugby.
