From the very foundation of IMS, every single member of staff has been carefully chosen to ensure this nurturing environment continues, and that each child experiences the same opportunity to grow and develop into their own best self, naturally. Today, our community of teaching staff hails from all corners of the world.
We know that Montessori isn’t simply a method of education. It is a philosophy of life, and one where those preparing the environment must truly believe that the child can be guided to make increasingly complex choices and decisions which are critical at each step on their own journey of discovery, moving step by step towards independence, from birth to adulthood.
Every member of our team, from teacher in the classroom to support team is committed to creating a collaborative learning community which is deeply rooted in respect and kindness, where learning and discovery and becoming our best self is part of what we do every day.

Professional Development: IMS has established a strong programme of Professional Development addressing a variety of pertinent subjects to support and enhance Best Practices for IMS teachers which occur throughout the year. “IMS Gourmet PD” Professional Development includes opportunities to learn from our own faculty in-house, from external experts who visit the school, as well as from Montessori Conferences.
Biannual Montessori Conferences: The inaugural Hong Kong Montessori Conference 2014, co-hosted by IMS and the International Montessori Council, was a 3-day event for Montessori educators and leaders from around the world, and included a parent education workshop. IMS and IMC co-hosted the Second Hong Kong Montessori Conference on 6, 7 & 8 October, 2016. The Conference was an invaluable Professional Development opportunity for all IMS faculty and staff, and directly benefited each child under our care. Once again, all IMS faculty were sponsored to participate, to refresh and reignite our passion for Montessori education.
Montessori Teacher Training Support Programme: each year, IMS supports passionate faculty to gain their Montessori teacher training qualification over three summers.
