Beyond the Classroom

Life as an IMS student often transcends the classroom walls - small yet significant learning opportunities for our children are embedded everywhere.

Student-Led Clubs

Our Student Led Clubs provide children the chance to not only participate but also to lead a workshop based on their own hobbies and skills. As leaders of clubs, students need to design, prepare, and then run this social experience which brings together both the lower and elementary population. This is a cross-grade opportunity that encourages students to make new relationships with children outside of their immediate classroom.

Field Trips

Day and Overnight Camp

Sports Teams

Montessori Model United Nations - MMUN

Field Trips are group excursions that bring our children to places of interest such as the Wetlands, Cheung Chau or Kadoorie Farm. These experiences help our students consolidate their knowledge, but also learn how how to seek new information locally, and interact with different community members and institution. Led by teachers and parent chaperones, the children are encouraged to draw connections to their classroom learning.

Often cherished as a most memorable event, Camp is a fun-filled opportunity for Elementary students to step out of their comfort zones and challenge themselves to take on new outdoor adventures. Our Lower Elementary students participate in a 1 day camp whilst our Upper Elementary students enjoy an extended 3-day-2-night experience, supervised by our faculty and camp leaders.

As a founding member of the Asia Pacific Schools Sports Organisation, IMS participates in regular sports tournaments with schools from all over Hong Kong. Students have the opportunity to represent their school from Grade 3 onwards in football, basketball and netball. All teams will train with an IMS coach on a regular basis and attend regular tournaments.

Montessori Model United Nations provides Upper Elementary students with a life changing opportunity to become delegates at a global conference simulating the real world forum. Students work with their teacher mentor and international peers in this year long commitment to represent a country's stance and publicly debate on pressing societal issues.
